Paula Renee Scott Robinson was born May 20, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri, the eldest daughter of Thomas and Laverne Scott, both who proceeded her in death.

Paula was always musically talented and began singing and playing piano at a young age.

She graduated from Southeast High School in 1969, where she was active in musical groups and many academic endeavors.

Paula committed to Christ as a teenager and was a devout member of Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church for more than 35 years. She was active in the choir as well as serving in many other capacities.

Paula also sang with community gospel groups including the These Are They choir and the Evangelistic Few. She also gave her gift of song to the secular community, as a member of the singing group The Chants and others.

Paula attended Central Missouri State University, where she was a charter member of the Delta Pi chapter of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority and made lifelong friends.

Paula was united in marriage to Nathaniel Robinson in 1983 and remained married until his death in 2012. They were blessed with two children, Daniel Wesley Robinson and Myka Renee Robinson Milliken.

She received a B.A. in Health Care Administration from Avila University, and a M.A. in Human Resource Development from Webster University.

Paula was a Senior Human Resources Professional specializing in employee training and development. She has worked primarily with healthcare including the Health Midwest System and Children’s Mercy Hospital; and the public including Johnson County, to develop and enhance the leadership and interpersonal skills of employees at all levels for more than 20 years.

In 2014, Paula was inducted into the Black Achievers Society, an organization which fosters collaboration between high achieving African American business professionals who are invested in our communities, also provides leadership development exposure and scholarships to area youth.

Paula retired from full-time employment in 2018 but continued to remain active in the community.

She began working as the cohost of a radio show on the gospel station Praise 95.3 FM. It was in this role that she was able to interview gospel greats such as Kirk Franklin.

In addition, Paula continued to provide workplace training and development through partnerships with a variety of organizations. She was also an active volunteer for the Center for Conflict Resolution, an organization which provides skills and process training to help individuals and groups create peaceful and productive solutions to conflict.

Paula passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2020 at the home.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son Daniel Robinson; daughter Myka Renee Milliken (Jamon); two stepsons, Donnie Robinson and Nathan Robinson; three grandchildren, Alexander Robinson, Nikola Gurley, and Brianna Robinson; three great-grandchildren, Keara Nelson, Kymyatta Glasgow, and Rickey Glasgow Jr;  siblings Michael Scott, Locust Grove, Va;  Latricia Scott Adams (Michael), Kansas City; Thomas Gregory Scott (Pam), Lee’s Summit, Mo; and Laurie Scott Austin (Stan), Raymore, Mo; a lifelong friend Queen Hill; a special friend, Thomas Tate; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and numerous friends.
