Paulene Lewis, aka “Doll” at age 91, passed away on October 4, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born on August 2, 1934, in Oceola, Arkansas to Paul Harris and Edna Mae Harris.
Paulene was baptized in the Mississippi River. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. She was small in stature but had a big heart. Her favorite thing to do was cooking delicious meals for her friends and family on all occasions. That was her special gift to the family. She was unapologetically honest when giving smart advice. She had a PhD in common sense.
Paulene wasn’t much on small talk, but very observant when it came to reading a situation or people. She was skilled at not only cooking, but also sewing, crocheting, and taking care of her household. She was out proud “Leo” princess. She was smart, generous, funny, and born to lead. She worked for Bendix for almost 30 years, as a service worker. She retired in 1996. After retiring, she spent her free time traveling, shopping, and playing bingo.
Paulene was married to Walter E. Lewis for many years until they divorced. This union produced two children: Patricia Ann and Rose Marie. She had three grandchildren: Senchal, Niya, and Dante. She also leaves two great-grandchildren: Soleil and Nova. She was preceded into death by her parents: Paul and Edna Harris, her siblings: Helen and Darlene. Paulene is survived her children: Patricia (Ricky), and Rose; her only sister, Irma Lee Speed (John), and a host of other relatives: Robert, Shelia, Marlene, Patrick, and Tracey.
