Evangelist Pearlie Mae Newsome was a POWERFUL Minister of the Gospel, Christian Counselor, and Prayer Warrior. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She earned her wings and took flight on March 8th, 2021 at age 76.
Pearlie was born to Charlie and Alberta Green Sr. on January 18th, 1945 in Sikeston, Missouri. After graduating from high school, Pearlie attended Florissant Valley – St.Louis Community College where she studied Business Administration. She aspired to have her own Business. Eventually, down through the years, she did open a small Boutique selling High-end Dress Suits, Hats, and Jewelry. She also worked at Famous Barr and Macy’s during that time. She has had a long-lasting love affair with clothing and accessories. Pearlie really loved to be well-dressed! She was a Fashion Icon in her own right! Eventually, Pearlie moved on to UMB Bank and worked there over 20 years before retiring as a Personal Banker.
On September 9th, 1967, Pearlie married her High School sweetheart, Willie Newsome (deceased). They celebrated 50+ years of marriage. Together, they had 3 children: Yolonda, Gary and Marcus. They were honored to become grandparents and great grandparents.
Pearlie loved to shop 'til you drop! She enjoyed catching the latest fashions. She could never have too many clothes, shoes, hats and jewelry. She loved to dress her family in matching colors for church. She always made sure her children received a fresh new set of clothes for every season and occasion. Pearlie also enjoyed cooking. She prepared many delicious meals and special desserts for her family She often prepared large meals to share with extended family and friends for the Holidays. She genuinely enjoyed hosting dinner parties.
As an ambitious and visionary Woman of God, Pearlie has served in various roles at several churches over the years. She has been a Chior member, Sunday School Teacher, Evangelist, Missionary, and Women’s Department President. Pearlie faithfully served in her father’s church Green Memorial, Shiloh Temple, New Hope, Trinity Temple, and Calvary Chapel.
She is preceded in death by her parents, spouse: Elder Willie Newsome; and her siblings: Bishop Charlie Green Jr. and First Lady Uneeda Marshall
She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Yolonda, Gary(LaPortia), and Marcus(Nikki) Newsome; grandchildren: Donte Dexter, Devin Newsome, Gabrielle Jeremy, Jasper Sharp, Kierra Kash, Kruse Newsome, great grandchildren (Gary’s Grands); her brothers: Nathaniel Green, E.W. Green, Joe Green, Sr., Michael Green, Darry Green, and James, Green; her sisters: Almeda Yancy, Dorothy Sanders, Juanita Andrews, and Mary Marshall; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
