Phillip Robert Smith, Jr., was born on March 18, 1959 in Kansas City, Missouri to Phillip Robert Smith, Sr., and Barbara Smith Beal. He was introduced to the Lord at a young age by his mother. He was preceded into death by both his parents, his brother Micheal Smith, and his grandson, Mahssan Kelley.

Phillip was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District. He secured various jobs during his life time. At his demise he was employed by Aspen Products Inc., as a production worker. He was very good at his job and well-liked by management and fellow co-workers.

Phillip enjoyed looking good and smelling good. He loved fashion and was always dressed well. He believed in physical fitness and worked out daily. He loved music, dancing and a purple leather jacket that did not match with anything in his wardrobe. Purple is the color of royalty. He loved Red Hots candy, and his dog Dro. Phillip also was spiritually inclined and often read his bible before going to work. He was devoted to his mother and loved her with all of his heart. He had a special love for his younger sister Rhonda Allen, who he could call on day or night.

He met his soulmate LaTina Smith and fell in love. They married and formed a wonderful life together. He proclaimed his love for her to anyone that would listen. The name his wife called him was Baby. He was a wonderful husband and provider as well as protector to his wife.The time Phillip spent with LaTina was filled with joy, laughter, and love. He gave her the opportunity to experience true love.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife; LaTina Smith, children; Phillip Smith, III. (Tamika), Jamal Smith, Tempestt Smith, stepchildren; Maurice Simmons, Donnique Kelley, Donneka Kelley, mother in-law, Willetta Parker (who he laughed with and confined in often), siblings; Debra Smith-Armine, Sharon Smith, Phyllis Smith, Rhonda Allen (Gerry), Anthony Smith (Adrian), Angelia Thornton (Nate), Willie Beal (Dorothy), a host of grandchildren, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
