Quareter Mae Tolson

Quareter Mae (Reed) Tolson passed away peacefully at home with family on June 4th, 2017. She was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri, and attended the Kansas City Missouri school district. She was born on September 1, 1970.

She was the 9th of 14 children born to the late L.C. & Elee Reed and was the beloved wife of J.C. Tolson. Her sister, Daisy Henderson; brothers, Jerry, L.C., and Johnny Reed; granddaughter, Monae Reed all preceded her in death.

Quareter loved music (Stevie Wonder) and dancing until her health failed her. She formed her dance group in the 70’s called “Mama and the Black Raps” which featured soulful rhythmic dancing. She loved laughing, being with her family, and having fun with friends. She was baptized at an early age at Cannon Missionary Baptist Church, finding fellowship with Rev. Faith White. Later she found solace with her new church family at the Victorious Life Church under the leadership of Bishop Mark C. Tolbert.

She will forever be remembered by her beloved children, Tammy Rene, Isadora Scott (Hikieme Sr.) and Monroe Elliot Roland Reed; treasured grandchildren, Dommanaiy Taylor, Dashai Reed, Danaisha Scott, Hikieme Scott Jr., Davon Reed, Ziar Reed and Manual Reed; caring sisters, Pearlene Gillespie (Ernie), Barbara Reed, Joyce Buie, Tracy Reed, Earlene Walls (Terry); devoted brothers, Michael Boyd, Terry Reed and Willie Williams; a special cousin, Shelby Convert; her lifelong friend, Diane Weaver; a host of nieces and nephews, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her.

She touched many lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.
