Quentin LaVern Martin was born on August 24, 1960, in Kansas City, Kansas to Calvin LaVern West and Ida Joe (Martin) West. He lived his life in Kansas City, Missouri, passing away on May 31, 2025. Quentin attended Northeast High School and graduated in 1978. He attended Kingdom Word Ministries for a brief period of time where he was also baptized. He was employed with The City of Kansas City Parks and Recreation where he was a Recreation Assistant for 15 years. He then was employed by The Walnuts where he was a Manager of Shipping and Distribution until his retirement in July 2024.

Quentin enjoyed cooking soul food and listening to old-school music. His hobbies were playing pool and dominoes. He was an avid Chiefs fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Otis and Hester Morris; his siblings: Adrian Muhammad, Felisa Witherspoon, Gregory Martin, and Tony West, they all welcomed him into Heaven.

Quentin spent his last years with his partner, Beatrice Marshall. He was formerly married to Kelley from 1991-2002. Three sons were born of that union.

Quentin is survived by: his three sons: Quencye Martin, Quentin Martin, and Quendin Martin (Jade): his only grandchild, “The Apple of his Eye”, Lauren Martin; his siblings: Michael Martin (Linda), Sheila Freeman, and Terry Green (Curtis); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
