Quinton Anthony Miller, was born July 13, 1969 in Kansas City, Missouri to William and Artis Miller.
Quinton’s early education started at Notre Dame De Sion, then he went to St. Francis Xavier and graduated from Arch Bishop O’Hara High School. After graduation, he attended Penn Valley Community College. He ran track, played basketball and football in middle school and high school. At the age of eleven, he joined the Sea Cadets (Youth Navy Branch) and by the age of twenty, he joined the US Marine Corps.
Quinton accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of ten at Friendship Baptist Church where he also led his younger brother Chuck to Christ at the same time. They were baptized together by Rev. I. H. Henderson Jr. As a child, Quinton’s church activities included Childrens Choir, Youth Choir, Sunday School, Youth Fellowship and Baptist Training Union. Quinton was always the protector of his younger siblings (Dee-De and Chuck). Family was always extremely important to him and he spent much of his time surrounded by aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. When Q hugged you, you were totally engulfed in his arms and his love.
While celebrating a family wedding in 2005, he met the love of his life, Ra’Keishela Tori Brown. They were later united in marriage on October 27, 2012 at Starlight Theater in Kansas City, MO. This union blended their six beautiful children of five boys and one girl. Quinton and Ra’Keishela thoroughly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life by traveling, watching sports, attending family gatherings, and entertaining friends. He took pride in fitness, style, lawn care, cooking, working on cars, and would often share his talents with his friends and family.
Quinton began his career at Hallmark Cards after high school. He later became a mechanic, worked at Firestone and spent the last nineteen years employed at Ford Motor Company.
He always had a love for muscle cars, crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader of African American History and the plight of his people. He would often share information with others including his mother who nicknamed him (“Militant Mike“), for he was never shy about speaking on injustice.
Quinton lived a full life and will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and loved ones.
He leaves to mourn and will be forever cherished by his parents William and Artis Miller; wife, Ra’Keishela Miller; five sons, Jordan Davis of Overland Park, KS, Sean Miller of Overland Park, KS, Luke and Zackery Martinez of Minneapolis, MN, and Christian Nichols of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Hailey Brown of Independence, MO; sister, Denita Turner (Maurice); brother “Chuck” William C.
