Listen to Obituary

Raymond Nathaniel Graves II was born on September 16, 1966, the only child of Phillis HamiltonGraves and Raymond Graves Sr. His mother, maternal and paternal grandparents preceded him in death.

Raymond grew up in Kansas City and spent many summer months in Springfield, MO visiting his fraternal grandparents.  Raymond graduated from Raytown High School in 1984. Sometime after high school Raymond moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend Georgia State University where he studied accounting and criminal justice.  Raymond loved Atlanta and decided to make it his home for several years. After many years in Atlanta, Raymond returned to the Kansas City area. Upon his return, Raymond accepted a position with Pioneer Services in the Accounting area where he worked for over 12 years. Most recently Raymond was excited about his new position at Pittenger Law Group.

Raymond was a health buff and for a period time worked as a personal trainer at the ROC Fitness Center in Raytown. He often encouraged others by providing tips on nutrition and getting fit. Raymond had his own smooth style, often sporting a Fedora.  He took pleasure in traveling and on numerous occasions enjoyed cruises to Caribbean islands with his mother and Aunt Carmon.  He loved spending time with his family and friends just having a good time.

Raymond was ecstatic about the birth of his twin daughters Aaliyah and Alexis. He said ‘my children make me happy’. Much of what he said and did centered around his daughters. He loved attending church with his girls. Raymond accepted Jesus Christ and loved to study His word.

Raymond leaves to cherish his memory his twin daughters Aaliyah and Alexis Graves, his father Raymond Graves Sr. (Marie), his brothers Tony Jackson (Springfield, MO) and Donald Leaper, sisters Rachelle Graves, Kameha Perkins and Assunta Leaper. Special aunts Carmon Hamilton, JoAnn Pitts, Jacqueline Cullen (Kevin), Joyce Toliver, Mary Graves and Zetta Graves; special uncles Odell Hamilton, James Graves and Mark Graves, Grandfather Henry Lewis Abernathy (Omaha, NE) and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
