Reese Holmes departed his earthly home on Thursday, November 19, 2020, with family and friends by his side. He was born June 12, 1943, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Willie and Carrie Holmes. He grew up and graduated high school there. After graduation, he moved to Houston, then later moved to Kansas City, MO, where he spent the rest of his life. Reese proudly served in the US Army in Vietnam from 1965-1966. He later joined the National Guard and retired after serving 22 years. Reese was a very proud working man. He was employed at the Ford Motor Company as an assembler and retired after 33 years. He was actively involved with church and had a very special place in his heart for his church family at Oak Grove Baptist Church of Kansas City. Reese loved his son Roderick and his grandchildren.  Spending time with family and sharing funny stories was one of his greatest joys.

Reese was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Carrie Holmes and his four siblings Brady (Honeyboy) Holmes, Maxine Holmes, Inez Holmes, Willie (Pig) Holmes.

He is survived by his son Roderick Holmes, daughter-in-law Sharon Holmes aka “Olivia,” Grandchildren; Rakeisha Butler, Darian Holmes, Shantaja Heath, Cydnee (Desmond) Nevels, Sharel Heath, and Laurel Heath. Great grandsons Christian Keeton and Anias Nevels. Special friend Brenda Haynes and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other close friends and relatives.
