R eginald Merlin Perkins “Reggie” was born on December 31, 1971 in Marianna, Arkansas to Brenda D. Perkins and Shelby F. Williams. He was the eldest and only son of five children. He moved to Kansas City, Missouri with his family while still a young child.
Reggie accepted Christ at an early age while attending Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ (late Rev. Henry Small, Pastor). Reggie received his formal education in the Kansas City Public School District. He attended Knotts Elementary and Southeast Middle and High School receiving a GED. Reggie also earned many business certifications. He was the owner of Perkins Used Auto Sales and Lead Operator for many years at Faurecia Automotive Plant.
Reggie loved the holidays, his family and enjoyed Sunday Fun Day with grilling, music and more he also enjoyed bowling with his league, selling and detailing cars and many other hobbies. Reggie had a smile that would brighten a room and warm your heart. He was LOVED by many. Reggie was caring, helpful and thoughtful of others.
Reggie departed this life on March 14, 2019. He was preceded in death by his Aunt Dianna Mae Payne-Royston, Grandmother Frances M. Small, Cousins Sheldon Haynes, Jerry “Chad” Johnson, and LynQuienta “Shay” Bright.
He leaves to cherish his parents, Brenda D. Perkins and Shelby (Dianne) Williams in Kansas City, Missouri. Grandparents Arthur and Julie Perkins Sr. of Marianna, Arkansas; five sisters LaShan Perkins (Robert), Shelly Williams (Damon), Yenis Estrada, and DaSha Hopkins; stepsister, Shalonda Bailey of Kansas City, Missouri; two stepbrothers, Nathaniel Bailey and Cortez Sexton of Kansas City, Missouri; two children, daughter Alyshia M. Smith and a son Mare’ae Dixon; three grandchildren; Armon D. Perkins, Mariah Dixon and Messiah T. Jones; Nephews: Erik Williams and Antonio Wiley, Nieces: RaShaun Shelton, Alexis Dickerson, Ava Reed and Jersei Hopkins all of Kansas City, Missouri. He also leaves to cherish a special woman Sallie Mitchell of Kansas City, Missouri, a special cousin/brother Rickey Lloyd of Kansas City, Missouri along with best friends Frank Martin, Darren Davis and Sir Harold Franklin (Duka) and a host of uncles, aunties, cousins, family, and friends.
