Renee' Bentley- Thompson

April 5, 1956 — April 5, 2021

Listen to Obituary

I was born "Renee' Lynnette Bentley" in Kansas City, Missouri on April 5, 1956 to the late Mable Olleen (Moore) and James Bentley Sr. I transitioned from this life surrounded by my family on my 65th birthday, April 5, 2021.

I professed my whole heart to my Lord and Savior, my heavenly Father at a very early age. I visited several Church’s as a youngster, however, with the spiritual guidance of my other mother, Mrs. Georgia Miller, I joined the family based Greater Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in 1968; under the leadership of the late Pastor Emeritus Albert Colbert, my uncle in law.

I was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri public schools and graduated Paseo High School’s mighty Pirates; class of 1974. My classmates and participation in the planning and activities of our many reunions were so very important to me.

I worked for Missouri Gas Energy and moved forth to work for many years as the executive secretary for the APWU / American Postal Workers Union until my medical retirement in 1996.

I was preceded in death by both of my parents.  At the tender age of 7 years old, I lost my mother, Mable Olleen Bentley and later in my life, I lost my hero and Father, James Bentley, Sr. My eldest brother, James Bentley, Jr. and my older sister, Marcia Ann (Moore) McNeely along with my Mother and Father in-law, Earnestine and Robert Thompson, Sr.; brother in law, Robert Thompson, Jr.; my nephew, Vic Bentley and Herman H. Tucker Sr.; niece, Sheila A. Bentley and great-nephews, Wade “Lil Man” Bentley and Timothy “Tim Tim” Wilson; son-in-law, Freddie B. Canady, Jr.; my only daughter’s father, Frank L. Miller, Sr. and countless Aunts, Uncles and Cousins are all there to receive me in heaven.

I leave to honor and cherish my life and memory, my devoted and loving husband, Carlos L. Thompson, my “only one”, daughter, LaShonda Bentley Miller Canady (Art); My children, Craig Robinson, Frank L. (Kat) Miller, Jr., Charita (Sherrell) Henderson and JaVonna Robinson. My Grandchildren: Rizson (Joseph) Canady, Shaquille Robinson, Reigis Canady, Frank L. Miller, III, Zion Henderson, London Henderson, Aniya Miller, Mael Beaty and two Great-Grand children, Kari Brown and Joseph “JO-JO” Baker.  I leave my eldest Sister / Mother, Kay Carol (Herman Sr.) Tucker of Seattle, WA., other siblings, Gina Bentley and Melanie (Murray) Youngblood of Texas; and Floyd Bentley Sr.; Sisters and Bothers in law; Clemestine Collins, Alice Boydston, Oliver Thompson, Schenita Thompson, Delbert Thompson, Schmauda Thompson, Rhonda Miller Words, Rodney Miller Sr., Stacey Miller, Tonya Miller and slew of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to enjoy my legacy.
