We celebrate and honor the life of Richard Paul whose earthly presence enriched us for Sixty-Eight years until he joined his beloved ancestors in eternal peace on February 29, 2024.
Richard (Rich, Richie) Paul 68, received his heavenly crown Thursday, February 29, 2024. Richard was born January 18, 1956, as a twin and the eighth of eight children born to James P. Paul and Annie L. Paul-Dunn in Kansas City, MO. Richard grew up in Kansas City, MO and attended Katherine B. Richardson Elementary School and Central Junior and Senior High School, graduating high school in 1974, after graduation he went to Missouri Western State University. He worked various jobs in the city, Macy's, Peners and JP Todd's. He moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1982 and lived there until 1997, returning to Kansas City after 15 years. He enjoyed living in Los Angeles and meeting so many wonderful friends and working in the clothing industry for many years. Upon returning to Kansas City he was employed at Center for Behavioral Medicine (Western Missouri)/State of Missouri for twenty years and retiring in 2020. He enjoyed working at CBM.
Richard married the love of his life, Mattie and had a joyful life raising their sons, Damarcus, Myles, Martin, and Matthew. He loved his sons. He was a dedicated husband and Father. Richard was a kind, caring and loving person. He never met a stranger. He loved and enjoyed talking with people about most things as if he knew you forever. He loved the Chiefs and was an avid movie watcher. Richard loved God and his family. He cherished time spent with his family. He attended Sheffield Family Life Center for over twenty years. He had a strong faith and belief in God. He had a close relationship with his twin brother Raymond, his siblings, and his siblings in law.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his brothers Sylvester (Jackie) Paul, Willie Paul, niece Jennifer Paul and his grandparents.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Mattie; sons, Damarcus, Myles, Martin and Matthew; twin brother, Raymond (Cocoa) Paul; brothers, James (Louise) Paul, Sidney Paul, Colonel Dunn, Jr.; sisters, Lourene (John) Williams; Margie (Stanley) Alexander; Aunt Rosie Nevins; brothers in law, Alfred (Joyce) Bonwell, Cecil Bonwell, Nathan (Ella) Bonwell and Thomas (Ros) Bonwell; special niece in law, Monica Bonwell Collins; sister in law, Betty Bonwell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
His loving spirit and caring ways will be greatly missed. The way he cared for and loved us will always be cherished.
