Richard Robinson

Richard Nordene Robinson, 76, was born on February 15, 1940, to Jewel and Geraldine Robinson in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He gave his life to Christ as a child and was a member of Ebenezer A.M.E church. Richard grew up in St. Joseph, Mo, where attended and graduated from St. Joe Central High School in 1959. Richard proudly served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He later went on to further his education at Langston University, where he pledged Kappa Psi Nu and graduated and received his BS in Industry Arts in 1971. Richard met the love of his life in 1969 and married Phatamurs Robinson and they shared 47 wonderful years together. He was employed with Kansas City School District for 27 years, until he retired in 2000. Richard also enjoyed various sports. He has coached swimming, volleyball, football, basketball as well as track and field. Richard received various awards and acknowledgements throughout his years of coaching. Even beyond retiring, Richard still enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate and compete-that was his greatest joy. Richard was preceded in death by his father Jewel Robinson; Paternal and Maternal Grandparent; two grandsons Jay Jackson and Corey Owens and a special brother Thomas Snargrass. He leaves to cherish his memory, Wife of 42 years, Phatamurs Robinson; three daughters Stephaine Owens, Knea Robinson-Hart, Shavon Robinson, a special daughter Tyonna Johnson, and countless extended children; Grandchildren James, Matthew, Kevon, Alexis, Jewel, Nosaj, Brooklyn and 2 great grandchildren Brandon and Chastity; nieces Taura and Ladonna and nephews; numerous cousins, colleagues and friends.
