Rita Dysart

Rita Marie Dysart was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. She transitioned to life after death on December 25, 2020, while staying in a rehabilitation center near her home in Fort Worth, Texas.

In 1972, she graduated from the Kansas City Missouri Regional Police Training Academy, and became the first female patrol officer to work in the field for the Kansas City Police Department. She was assigned to the Central Patrol Division when she started her career, and always considered CPD her department home. By successfully completing her training and working as a patrol officer, she opened the door for women throughout the KC metro area, proving that women could perform the duties previously reserved only for males.

Including her work as a patrol officer, she served the community as a Crime Prevention Officer in the East Patrol Division. After working in Patrol she served the department as a Detective where Rita worked as a member of the Crimes Against Persons Unit investigating Sex Crimes, and as an Internal Affairs Detective. She also served as member of the department detail that worked directly for Mayor Emmanuel Clever. She took great pride in police work, and believed in the responsibility of police accountability. She retired from the KCMOPD in 1999. After retiring from KCMOPD, Rita began focusing her attention on service to the Lord. She worked for her church, travelled to the Holy Land, and was inspired to go back to college. She subsequently graduated from Rehma Bible College in Oklahoma, where she focused on Bible Studies and Pastoral Ministry. Rita was proud to have lived a life of service to the Lord, and to her fellow human beings.

Her parents, Lo and Maxine Dysart, and her brother David Lee Thompson Jr. preceded Rita in death. She will be greatly missed by her sons, Arthella B. Webb III of Kansas City, Kevin E. Dysart (Shauna) of Orange Park, FL. She also leaves behind her brothers, John H. Thompson of Ontario, CA, and Jeffery R. Dysart (Lorre') of Overland Park, KS as well as five grandchildren, and her other loved nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family wishes to thank her dear friend Cynthia Villagio for her loving devotion to Rita during this past year.
