Robert Lee Adair Jr. AKA Junior, took his last breath on May 28, 2019 at VA Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born February 4, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert Lee Adair, Sr. and Luevenia Puryear (stepfather Hosea McClelland). Robert attended and graduated from Westport High School in June of 1967, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a very popular basketball and track star.
After high school, Robert started working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company then he was drafted into the Army and stationed in Alaska; and received an honorable discharge in 1971. When he returned, he went back to working for Southwestern Bell in Texas. After returning to Kansas City, he worked in construction with the Union Labor Employee System until his health failed.
Robert was an active member of The Historic Allen Chapel A.M.E Church in Kansas City, KS. Though he never wanted to hold an official title, he worked faithfully in the church in whatever capacity that would benefit the church on any given day. Sometimes this meant wearing more than one hat at a time; he ushered, he could fix anything, he helped with everything and he was our resident security officer.
He was preceded into death by his parents (Robert and Luevenia) and stepfather (Hosea).
Robert is survived by his former wife Vernetta Adair and two daughters Tywla Adair-Hicks and Robin Thomas-Adair, five grandchildren: Aaron, Brandon, Stevie, Cameron and Ruben (RJ). Siblings, Mary Dean of Wichita, KS, Russell Adair, Ronald McClelland, Vivian Herron and Roche Marshall (Lee). He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a Special friend, Juanita Jennings.
