Robert Bates

Robert Eugene Bates departed this life on Tuesday July 26,2016 at Veterans Medical Center. He was born on June 1 ,1925 in Tulsa Oklahoma to Sarah Bates and Fred Douglas Bates. He had a sister who proceeded him in death. He married Ellen Lee and to that union they had Two daughters. He served in the Navy. He worked at Union Pacific but always wanted to be a business man. He switched careers and starting selling insurance back in the 60's with Atlanta Life Insurance door to door. He soon started his own company under Old American Insurance as a General Agent. Robert enjoyed the finer things in life and strived hard to acquire them. Later in life while selling insurance in Coffeyville Kansas. He met a young lady by the name of Linnie Dickens, Linnie and Robert fell in love over her home cooking and rolls made from scratch. Later in the relationship they Married. Linnie and Robert were married and together over twenty years. Linnie proceeded him in death passing October 1, 1999. Robert leaves to mourn his passing Two daughters Deborah Daniels (Russell) Roberta Tease (George) Three Granddaughter Edwina Bates, Dana Minor, Stacie Minor, One Grandson Michael Minor. One Great Granddaughter Marketa Thomas and two great great granddaughters. He will be sadly missed by all. Robert also had a loving nurse Ann who took time out of her busy schedule to come see about him while in the hospitals and nursing home. A loving Aid Yolanda whom he looked forward to seeing. Robert was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Thomas Williams. His Church family has been by his side always sending cards and words of wisdom.
