Robert Mays

Robert Franklin Mays, 71, passed away on February 12, 2021 at Center Point Medical Center in Independence, Missouri. He was born on May 26, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to Thomas Jacob Mays and Christine Mays. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Westport High School.

In 1967 Robert joined the Army and served 2 years.  He then started working for the Kansas City Health Department as an equipment operator and later retired after working 30 years.

April 20, 1970, he married Evelyn Mays and they were happily married for over 50 years.

He is preceded into death by his parents Thomas and Christine May; four brothers, Thomas Mays Jr, Leroy Berryman, Earl Mays, John L. Berryman; three sisters, Mildred Williams, Enora Jackson and Carolyn Mays; and one son in law Michael Alan Lorthridge.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn Mays; two sons, Robert Franklin May Jr and Damian Ronell Mays; one daughter, Bridget Michelle Mays; Nine grandchildren, Taylor Hill, Petyon Mays, Christopher Mays, Katelyn Mays, Michael Lorthridge III, Makaila Lorthridge, Martez Lorthridge, Marquan Lorthridge, Mariyah Lorthridge; one sister Sharon “Lou” Kennedy, and one brother Ronald “Keith” Mays.
