Robert Lee Smith, 73, passed away November 11, 2022, in Lenexa Kansas.  Robert was born in Kansas City Missouri on October 2, 1949, to Rudolph and Norma Jean Smith.

Robert grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and was baptized at an early age. Robert graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968. In 1969 Robert was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971. Robert rose to the rank of Sergeant (SGT), earned two Purple Hearts, and several other honors and medals while in the military. Robert was honorably discharged in 1975.

Robert began his career in the medical field working at Saint Luke’s Hospital. After retirement, Robert went on to work for NPB for a number of years. Robert was a loving and caring person always willing to help those in need. Robert loved his family, enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, listening to music, joking with people, fishing, and traveling. Robert was baptized at a very young age and was a lifelong member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph, and Norma Jean Smith; sister, Alberta Smith; and brother, Raymond Smith.

Robert is survived by four children, Brian Tolbert (Ebony), Marsha Hall (Adrian Sr.), Mishel Smith, and Travon Miller; three brothers, Ernest Smith (Lavetta), Rudolph Smith, Jr. (Trina), and Norman Smith (Jennifer); three sisters, Gwendolyn Boyd, Carolyn Jasper, and Loretta Williams; eight grandchildren, Alexis Tolbert, Leland Perkins-Tolbert, Briana Tolbert, Adrian Hall Jr. (Myniecia), Alexander Hall, Faith Hall, Robert Smith, and Malikai Karel. Robert also leaves behind a host of honorary children whom he loved deeply along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as friends.
