Robert L Thompson, Jr.

Robert Lee Thompson, Jr., known as “Head” age 67 was born December 2, 1950 to Robert Thompson, Sr., and Earnestine Thompson in Kansas City, MO. He deported his earthly body February 28, 2018. He was proceeded in death by His father, Robert Lee Thompson Sr., Mother Earnestine Thompson and Grandson DeVante’ Thompson, Grandparents Ollie and Maudie Hughes. Father-in-law Davie Hyde, Mother-in-law Emma Hyde, and four brother-in-laws David Hyde, Johnny Hyde, Luther Hyde, Nelson Hyde and Tommy Hyde.

Robert Lee was lifetime resident of Kansas City, MO. He accepted Christ at an early. He received his education in the Kansas City, Missouri School District graduating from Central High School. He met and married Betty Hyde August 24, 1971. He worked in various occupations including Bob’s Glass Co. owned by his father before retiring from Sheraton Hotels (former Hyatt Regency) as the banquet manager for many years until 2013. Robert was very well known for his love of recording movies and music. He didn’t say much often but when he did, it was always something you would remember. He could always make you laugh with the wild things he said. He loved his children, grandchildren and family dearly, and made sure the people around him were taken care of. He spoiled his wife Betty so much that she didn’t want to share her “Robert Lee”, but he always made sure he spent time with his brother Delbert no matter what!

He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his wife Betty Thompson, six children, Robert Thompson, Robin Thompson, Cortez Armstrong, Latasha Thompson, Richard Thompson, David Thompson (Nicole) and, fourteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Three brothers, Oliver Thompson (twin), Carlos Thompson (Renee’), and Delbert Thompson. Four sisters, Clemestine Collins (George), Alice Boydston, Schenita Thompson, and Schamauda Thompson, all of Kansas City, Mo. Five aunts Sarah Hughes, Ora Baskin, Irene Dugan, Dorothy Frazier, and Ollie Collins all of Kansas City. Four Brother-in-laws Prentice Hyde(Maggie), Freddy Hyde(Linda), Bobby Hyde(Grace), all of St. Louis, Ill and Richard Hyde, all of Fairview Heights, Ill. two-sister and laws Monica Hyde(Julius) of Fairview Heights, Ill. and Sarah Hampton(Willie) of Kansas City, Mo and host of other relatives and friends. Robert Lee will be truly missed, as he was loved dearly by all who came in contact with him.
