Rodney Eugene Alexander passed away on January 7, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on March 21, 1964, in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Charles Khaliq and Margret Alexander. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri where he attended East High school in the Kansas City, Missouri school district. Through his younger years he practiced Islamic principles. As an adult he joined Christ Tabernacle church where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Rodney devoted several years and served as lead deacon. He was later called to preach the word of God and became an ordained minister. He later joined Macedonia Baptist Church as an associate pastor. He devoted 25 years working for Northwest Airlines and United Skycap, where he retired early due to his illness. As an adolescent Rodney played a variety of sports such as boxing, basketball, baseball, football and swimming to name a few. He was often called “An All American” by many because of his talents. He enjoyed playing spades and dominoes with his family and friends. In his later years he enjoyed watching sports, especially football. He was a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed sharing historic family stories with his children and grandchildren. He loved to dress fly and wear the best colognes and tennis shoes. He enjoyed making new friends by starting conversations with people of all walks of life. He was a man of family and a man of God. Many Loved and Respected him for his warm, charming and courageous spirit. He was loved for his heroic nature and being a father figure and role model to others. He was preceded into death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, parents, Margaret Alexander, and Charles Khaliq, sister, Kimberly Alexander, niece: Brittani Dixon, nephew, Zafir Perkins, and uncle, Ervin Grady. He leaves to Cherish his memory: His first love and best friend Loretta Adams of 47 years, Five Children Michael Alexander (Jennifer), LaTasha Alexander, Rodney D. Alexander (Katrina), Marcus Alexander, and Tomeika Alexander-Williams (Brandon); Four siblings, Staci Alexander (Ermon), William Pekins, Taha Perkins, and Taheeda Pekins, Nineteen grandchildren; Michael, Jayden, Doloria, Darius, Daijah, India, Rahs’janae, Alexxus, Tionna, Taraji, Kennadi, Kevaughn, Keshaun, Taneca, Marcus jr., Brand’e, Bihanna, Bella, and Brandon II, childhood friend, Darrell Khalil, three great grandchildren Nova, Noel, Nari and twenty seven nieces and nephews, a host of other loving relatives. Rodney was a wonderful man loved by many. In his heart he had so much love to give. To the Ignite staff, thank you for making our father’s last days his best days.
