Rodney Darnell Woods, age 65, passed away on August  2, 2019 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on December 16, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri to Alton and Connie Mae Woods.  He grew up in Wynne, Arkansas and Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Southeast Senior High school, and after high school attended Penn Valley Community College.  He joined the United States Navy but received an honorable discharge due to health conditions.

Rodney worked as an on–air announcer for radio station KMOJ FM 89.9 in Minneapolis, and a disc jockey for a variety of radio stations in Kansas City including KPRS FM 103.3, KUDL FM 98.1, KMJK FM 107.3, and Neicie’s night club for over twenty years.

He also worked within the restaurant industry in food services.

Known for his deep booming voice, Rodney attended classes to pursue voice over work as a voice actor. He is the voice of countless commercials and radio spots. He even produced a children’s book and voiced the entire Holy Bible.

Rodney was employed by General Mills and loved the people there. He was happy to put a smile on the faces of the many people he came in contact with on a regular basis. Known for his generosity and kindness, Rodney organized an annual food drive fundraiser event for the Near Food Shelf program in an effort to give back to the community. He was also a member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church in Minneapolis.

He was preceded into death by Alton Woods, father.

He is survived by his mother Connie Mae Barrett, children -  Rodney Woods, Jr. (LaWana Woods), Chris Falkner, Monique White (Anthony White), and Adrain Woods. He also helped raise and fathered Nyree Falkner, Donzell Falkner, and Frederick Berry, Jr.

Siblings – Tanya Woods, Carmen Woods, Michael Woods, and Tony Martin, Grandchildren – Chris Falkner, Jr., Nicolette Woods, and Xvaier Falkner and a host of other relatives and friends.
