Ronald Meredith Fraction was born on September 23, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa, to James and Opal Wade Fraction. He was the youngest of six siblings. When he was four years old, the family relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota. At an early age, Ron attended St. Peter’s AME Methodist Church in Minneapolis, where he served as one of the youngest altar boys.

Ron attended Warrington Elementary, Bryant Junior High, and Central High School in Minneapolis, MN. He loved sports, played football, and ran track in high school. Known as the class clown, he had a gift for making others laugh and offering advice of all kinds to his classmates.

Ron met and married the love of his life, Patricia Lynch Fraction, at a young age, and they were united in holy matrimony in Minneapolis, MN. To this union were born two sons: Troy Anthony Fraction (deceased) and David Scott Fraction.

Ron began his professional career in sales in Minneapolis and later worked for a publishing company in St. Paul, MN. Ron and Pat purchased a 40-acre property and cabin in Aitkin, MN, where they spent many years enjoying outdoor activities. Ron especially loved hunting and fishing.

In the late 1970s, following a job transfer, the family relocated to Kansas City, MO. Ron worked in the construction industry for Portor Roofing Company, where he was a loyal and hardworking employee for 22 years until his retirement in 1997.

In 1993, Ron and Pat met a lovely young lady, Antonette Graves Midgyett, who became like a daughter to them. She affectionately called Ron “Dad.” When Antonette had a baby girl, Ron became the proud godfather of Jessica. Ron loved to fish and founded a deep-sea fishing group of about six men. For 12 years, they took annual trips to Port Aransas, TX, on the Gulf of Mexico. He was affectionately known as “The Captain.” He also loved golf and enjoyed playing his guitar and keyboard, often improvising songs. A devoted fan of both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Minnesota Vikings, Ron rarely missed a game.

After retirement, Ron volunteered in a supervisory role with the Kauffman Foundation, where he helped organize and pack thousands of Back-to-School backpacks for children in need. He later received a special plaque and recognition from the Foundation, presented by Gregg Gumbel.

After moving to Kansas City, Ron began attending Linwood Blvd. SDA Temple, where he gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized in 1985. He was proud to serve as an ordained deacon and worked faithfully in the church for many years, including in the food pantry ministry.

Ron and Pat shared a love for travel and enjoyed countless trips together to visit their children and grandchildren. Their adventures took them across North and South America, Mexico, the Caribbean, Canada, Hawaii, the South Pacific, and Alaska.

Ron loved people and never met a stranger. He had a great sense of humor and a joyful spirit that brightened every room.

After courageously battling illness for two and a half years, Ron peacefully went to sleep in Jesus, with his beloved soulmate by his side, on Friday, October 24, 2025.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, James and Opal Fraction; brothers Jimmy, Carl, Bill, and Michael; sister Joanne Fraction Johnson; brothers-in-law Oscar Ronnell Lynch and John Michael Lynch; sister-in-law Celeste Fraction; and his firstborn son, Troy Anthony Fraction.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife and life partner of 65 years, Patricia Lynch Fraction; son David Scott (Karyn) Fraction; sister Marilyn Robinson (age 98); sisters-in-law Gwen Fraction and Beverly Lynch Hines; daughter-in-law Elaine Robinson-Fraction; grandchildren Brandon, Austin, Joshua, and Lauryn Fraction; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
