Roosevelt Riley

Roosevelt Riley, 86, passed away on December 12, 2018 at Research Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. He was born on July 18, 1932 to Joe Riley and Lizzie Riley (Crawford). He was born and raised in Mayhew, Mississippi where he received his early education at Charity School. He was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

In 1952 he moved St. Louis, MO where he later met and married lsaphine Scott in 1959. They moved to Kansas City, MO and raised 6 children.

Roosevelt began work at American Ingredients in 1961 and retired as a production supervisor in 1996.

Roosevelt had a zest for life and smile to light up any room. He loved to read books of all kinds, watching westerns, traveling and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Lizzie Riley; son Nathaniel Riley; brothers Joe Lee Riley and Mel Riley; sisters Charlene Riley and Laurine Brown.

He is survived by 5 children, Rose Riley, Sandy Riley, Anthony Riley (LaTonia), Samuel Riley (LaNetta) and Daphane Riley; brother Willie Riley and sister Leatha Bowen; grandchildren Terrell Riley, Sean Riley, Cameron Riley, Endea Riley, Aaron Riley, Montez Bailey and Montrae Jones; great-grandchildren Jaliah, Sean, Jalen, Aubrey, Skye, La Ron, Miala and Laila.
