Rosalyn Rochelle “Ros” Ward (née Robinson), 72, went home to be with the Lord on March 4, 2025, in Edwardsville, Kansas.
Born on April 6, 1952, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Betty E Robinson and Scott M Robinson Sr. who both preceded her in death.
Rosalyn was educated in Kansas City, Kansas, attending Ward High School where she led student walkouts peacefully protesting the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. She graduated from Washington High School in 1970.
Rosalyn built a distinguished career as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where she served for 32 years with precision and commitment. Whether guiding aircraft safely through the skies or supporting her colleagues, she approached her work with unwavering diligence and heart.
Beyond her professional life, Rosalyn was a woman of deep spirituality and devotion. A faithful member of Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, she actively participated in church life by assisting with administrative duties and engaging in Sacrificial Saturday Prayer. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing strength through challenges and inspiring those around her.
Rosalyn had a passion for the weather. To her friends and family, she was Kansas City’s best meteorologist. She also had interests in fashion and plants, reflecting her vibrant personality and keen attention to detail. She found joy in expressing herself through style, nurturing greenery with care and observing the ever-changing skies. Her warmth extended to all who knew her, as she was known for being fiery yet loving - a woman who gave her all in everything she did.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Ward; her daughter, Alycea N. Morris; four stepchildren Kenny Lewis, Tina Ward, Ray Jr, Tiffany Merritt; grandchildren Brealyn N. Asbury, Caamiah N. Morris, and step-grandchildren, brothers Kim A. Robinson (Tamara) and Lloyd A. Robinson (Joyce); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers Michael L. Robinson and Scott M. Robinson Jr.
Rosalyn’s legacy of faithfulness and love lives on in the family she adored, the lives she touched and the memories she created.
