Rosetta Covington

Rosetta Covington, affectionately known as “Rose” or “Jerri,” 94, of Kansas City, Missouri, peacefully departed this life on Monday, July 27, 2026, at her family home, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was born on May 1, 1932, to Robert Bell Sr. and Recolia Eubanks.

Rosetta received her education in Hillsdale and Boonville, Missouri, and was a proud graduate of Boonville High School. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful servant of God whose life was a testament to love, faith, hard work, and dedication to family and community.

At an early age, Rosetta accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. She was a devoted member of Willis Chapel AME Church, where she faithfully served in numerous ministries, including the Gospel Choir, Senior Choir, Women's Missionary Society, Stewardess Board, Kitchen Committee, and as an Auxiliary Class Leader. Her unwavering commitment to her church and her love for helping others touched countless lives.

On March 6, 1953, Rosetta united in marriage with Dave Covington Sr. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with a beautiful family. Their union was strengthened by faith, love, and devotion and included their children, Dave Jr., Loretta, Rufus, and Vanetta.

Rosetta was a devoted homemaker who lovingly cared for her family while also pursuing her passion for baking. She worked for many years as a baker in the bakery department at Sam's Wholesale Club. Her talent and creativity led her to establish her own cake business, JewelRoselynn, LLC, where she created specialty cakes for countless families and celebrations throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area. Through her gift of baking, she brought joy to weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions, leaving sweet memories that will be treasured for generations.

Rosetta was an active member of the Melody Lane Bowling League, where she enjoyed many years of fellowship and friendly competition beginning in 1965.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Louada Hubbard, Carolyn Wilson, and Doris English; five brothers, John A Eubanks., William E. Eubanks, Robert B. Eubanks, Jr., Charles L. Eubanks, and Aline O. Eubanks.

Rosetta leaves to cherish her precious memory, her devoted husband, Dave Covington, Sr.; her beloved children, Dave Covington Jr. (Cheryl), Loretta Kent, Rufus Covington, and Vanetta Covington; and her cherished grandchildren, Shewn Moore, Ryne Covington, and Jaylen Goudeau (Andrea). She is also survived by her sister, Maurine Eubanks; her brother, Raymond M. Eubanks, Sr. (Janice); her sisters-in-love, Laura Mae Covington, Mary Lee Eubanks, Christine Eubanks, and Devolia Eubanks; five great-grandchildren; as well as a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her love, kindness, and unwavering faith.
