Rosie Ellen Gardner

Rosie Ellen (Garrett) Gardner, 87, passed away on October 30, 2025, at her home in Raytown, Missouri. She was born on June 16, 1938, in Kansas City, Kansas to Jesse Garrett Sr. and Cotie Ardella (Payne) Garrett. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her three older brothers: Jesse Garrett Jr., David Garrett, and Russell Garrett.

Rosie grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. She graduated from Sumner High School in Kansas City, Kansas. After high school she attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. She also attended Kansas University in Lawrence, Kansas, where she was certified to teach Special Education. Rosie worked for Kansas City Missouri School District, her entire teaching career until she retired in 2004.

Rosie married Isaac Gardner Jr. in 1963, but this union was later dissolved. They had one child together, Renee’ Michelle Gardner.

Rosie was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles, and to cook. She was very outgoing & loved to share her happy spirit with everyone who crossed her path.

Left to cherish Rosie’s memory: her daughter, Renee’ Gardner; her grandson, Isaiah Gardner, both of Kansas City, Missouri, her grand-fur babies: Chili, Pepper and Bear, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
