Listen to Obituary

Rowena “Rose” Greer was born on October 10, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the union of Andrew and Birdie Styles. She passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2026.

Rose was educated in the Kansas City School District and graduated from Paseo High School in 1972. In 1981, she married Ernest Greer, and from this union was born her beloved daughter, Wy’Kila. Rose was a devoted and loving mother who poured her heart into raising her daughter and granddaughter.

After working several jobs, she found her dream position at the Bendix Kansas City Plant, where she dedicated over 20 years. She later continued her career at the Ford Motor Company, where she retired with 10 years of service.

Rose was a member of Martin Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Elder L. H. Clark, Sr., where her belief in God remained a source of strength throughout her life.

A woman of many talents, Rose discovered a passion for baking and cake decorating that blossomed into a home-based catering business. She was known for her beautiful, show-stopping cakes, chocolate fountains and delicious party platters for wedding receptions, birthdays and special events. Family get-togethers, whether for holidays or any occasion, brought her great joy. She especially enjoyed making trail mix and spending time sitting with family and friends, chatting and playing card games. She enjoyed going to local music festivals.

Rose was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was marked by love and a strong faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. She had a remarkable ability to listen and offer guidance, especially to her nieces and nephews, to get through the challenges of growing up. She lived life to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wy’Kila Greer; her stepson, Ernest Greer, Jr.; her parents, Andrew and Birdie Styles; and five brothers: Ronald “Big Boy” Styles, Donald Smith, Eric “Ching” Styles, Bernard “Zeke” Styles, and Lodillar “Smokey” Styles.

She is survived by her spouse, Ernest “Che-Che” Greer; grand-daughter, Nakia Greer; sisters Regina Bass, Janice Styles, Mary Harvey (Marcus), Karen White (Ralph), and Lisa Lewis; brothers Ernest Styles, Mark Styles, Kelvin Styles, Curtis Styles, Rudy Styles, and Ricky Styles; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Rose will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
