Ruby Antwine was born Ruby Lucille Hervey in Plumerville, Arkansas, June 5, 1929. Ruby was the youngest daughter of Claude and Viola (Farley) Hervey. Both of her parents preceded her in death. Also, preceding her in death her sisters Johnnie Merlene Hervey Clayter, Isabelle Hervey Williams, her beloved husband James C. Antwine and only son Mark Anthony Antwine.
Ruby began her schooling in Atchison, Kansas and after graduating high school in 1947, she attended college. On December 21, 1956 Ruby was united in marriage to James C. Antwine and to this union four children were born.
Ruby was employed with the IRS for a myriad of years and following recovery from an illness, she completed her employment years in banking. She was a consistent election board worker and was an avid walker.
Mrs. Antwine was a devoted member of St. Louis. Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic minister, sang in the choir, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. She truly enjoyed visiting the elderly at the nursing home, with her grandchildren in tow. She also was an active member of the East Meyer Neighborhood Association.
Ruby leaves to mourn her precious memories three children, Corlis Antwine of Kansas City, MO, Brenda Jordan (Dennis) of Bakersfield, CA, Terri Antwine of Lee’s Summit, MO, stepson Dwight Antwine, New York, NY, daughter-in-law Renetta Antwine of Kansas City, MO, along with three special people in her life, her sister’s children that she helped raise, niece & nephews, Dr. Anita Clayter Barber (William) Morristown, NJ, Michael Clayter, Morristown, NJ, and Gregory Clayter (Janet) Flanders, NJ. Ruby also leaves three grandsons: Christopher Jordan of Tokyo, Japan, Demond Jordan (Pawanjit) of Long Beach, CA, Joshua Antwine of Kansas City, MO, her only granddaughter April Antwine of Lee Summit, MO and eight great grandchildren.
