On April 22, 2019, Ruby Jewel was called home to be with her Lord and Savior. She received the greatest grace of eternal peace, where there is no cancer, sadness, or tears.

Ruby Battle-Stephens was born to E’Lemon and Lizzie Casson in Natchitoches, Louisiana on August 23, 1945. She confessed Christ at an early age. She was baptized and joined the Friendship Baptist Church of Natchitoches. Ruby grew up in the St Savior Baptist Church of Shreveport. She married Archie Battle Sr. and moved to Gary Indiana. They parented three Children Gwen, Archie and Millie. After Moving to Gary, Indiana she united with Christ Baptist Church, where she served for many years. In 2004, Ruby moved to Kansas City and became a faithful member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church.

Ruby graduated from Bethune High School in Shreveport, Louisiana and attended Southern university. She was among the first blacks to attend Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. This group of students was by Police, attack dogs, and fire hoses during their first days of class.

Ruby retired from the Department of Family and Social Services/Division of Aging after 32 years of service. She also worked at Kansas City and Hickman Mills school Districts. She volunteered with many organizations including People to People. Ruby was a Philo of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority

She truly loved God, Family, learning new things, and visiting new places.

She was preceded in death by Parents E’Lemon and Lizzie Casson. Her Brothers Eddie Lester Casson and Leonard Casson.

Her life, memories, smile, and her willingness to help others in any way that she could will be remembered and cherished by: Her loving husband Larry Stephens; her Son Archie Battle Jr. (Atlanta Georgia) ;her Daughters Gwen Childs and Millie Robinson (Kansas City Missouri). Two Brothers-Clayton Casson and Clark Casson-Two Sisters Ernestine Coleman and Carolyn – Grandchildren LaRae, Emmanuel, Dakarai, Adele, Daniel, Archie III, and Allen. Ruby had many kids that loved and adopted her including Takeisha, Michelle, and Pudgee and host of other relatives and Friends.
