Listen to Obituary

With love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Ruth Ann (Pierson) Block, affectionately known as “Helen” to her family and friends. She made her peaceful transition from this life on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at the age of 85.

Born on December 8, 1939, Ruth Ann was the twelfth and youngest child of Oscar and Omie Pierson, all of whom preceded her in passing. Growing up, she developed a deep love for animals, making pets of the farm’s chickens and calves—only to be confused and saddened when they suddenly disappeared.

Ruth Ann was a devoted mother to her beloved daughter, Gloria Jean Brown. She later found love and companionship in Rogers Block, with whom she united in holy matrimony on Valentine’s Day. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared passions, particularly fishing and gardening on their farm. Ruth Ann had a special place in her heart for animals, always welcoming stray dogs and cats into her home.

After the passing of her husband, Ruth Ann moved to a senior complex, where she quickly made friends and embraced her new community. She remained a dedicated member of Second Baptist Church of Independence, Missouri, where she faithfully served on the Mother Board. True to her nurturing nature, she could not be without a pet, eventually caring for two cherished birds.

As the youngest of twelve siblings, Ruth Ann was blessed with a large and loving extended family, including numerous nieces and nephews who adored her. She was a source of warmth, wisdom, and kindness to all who knew her.

Though she has departed from this world, Ruth Ann’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.

"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord." – Matthew 25:23
