Ruth D. HIll

Ruth Delores Hill was the oldest of three children born to the union of Sadie Norris and Dr. Edward Fisher on July 10, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri. Her mother went on to marry Clarence Carter who was a loving father to Ruth until his passing in 1987. 

She attended Manual High School and graduated in 1958. Ruth met the love of her life Lawrence Edward Hill and they married December 7, 1968. They had one daughter Latonya Rushell Hill born July 15, 1971. Her husband Lawrence passed away almost 38 years to the date of her passing on March 13, 1988. 

Ruth worked as a nurses aid for many years along with a career at Western Electric. She retired from The Jackson County Courthouse in 2011 after being employed there for over 25 years. Ruth was also a licensed Notary with the State of Missouri until her death and she was a faithful member of Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ for over 79 years where she was also on the Board of Trustees since 2011. 

She enjoyed helping people any way she could. Ruth was a diva since birth. Long before there was Beyonce there was Ruth. When you asked her how old she was she would always say “39 and holding” and she held that for 45 years. Her hair and nails were always done and she loved beautiful clothing and her makeup was flawless. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Latonya Hill (Godfrey), granddaughter, Latonya Mitchell, son-in-law, Maurice Godfrey Jr., all of Atlanta, Georgia; one niece, Mia Monroe, and a great niece, Erin Monroe of Houston Texas; nephew, Barry Norris; and great nephew, Bryce Norris all of Kansas City, Missouri, and a nephew Andre Anderson of Houston, Texas, and a host of friends and wonderful church members.
