Listen to Obituary

Sam Williams, Jr., 75, was born on March 29, 1949, in Portageville, Missouri to Evelyn and Sam Williams, Sr.  Sam was raised as a man of God from birth.  He always has his faith in God.

He received his education through the Kansas City Missouri School District.  He served in the United States Navy-Naval Ship USS Robinson, as a Veteran.  He was employed with UMKC for 32 years.  After retirement, he worked for JR Mini Mart for many years.  His final job was as a Security Officer for Securitas Service.

Sam was united in marriage to Marquetta Hubbard and shared a love in marriage for 56 years.  To this union, they were blessed with three children. Sam was known to the family by his nicknames: Lil’ Sam, Uncle Sam, and Country. But his proudest name that he cherished the most was being called “Papa.”  Sam loved his family, and the family gatherings.  He was a jokester and was always there to give wisdom to everyone. And let’s not forget how he loved his Kansas City Chiefs.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Sam Williams, Sr; his siblings, Paul, Louise, and Maurice Williams; grandparents, Luvenia and Pink Love-Minnis, Grace and Sam Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Marquetta Williams of the home; his son, Paul Williams of Kansas City, Missouri; his daughters, LaShaun Williams of Grandview, Missouri, and Andreia (Carlos) McQuitty of Greensboro, North Carolina; his sisters, Barbara Howard of Kansas City, Missouri, Gloria Turner of Kansas City, Missouri, and Valerie Jones of Kansas City, Missouri; his brother, Anthony Williams of Kansas City, Missouri; his aunt, Alice Scott of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; his sisters-in-law, Jamesetta Weaver of Kansas City, Missouri, Patricia Ingram of Kansas City, Missouri, Janie Madison of Kansas City, Missouri, Octavia (Carl) McQuitty of Fayette, Missouri, Marietta Washington of Kansas City, Missouri, and Consetta Hubbard of Argentine, Kansas; his grandchildren, Amiya Williams, Alee’ha Williams, Raevon Wilson, Shontrel Wilson, Aniyah Todd, Elise Blackmon, and Myla McQuitty; his great-grandchildren, Laney Williamson, Ori Williamson; his best friend, Robert (Jamie) Bess; a special cousin and best friend, Reginald (Rose) Owens, and a host of nieces, great nephews, great cousins, and friends.
