Sammie L. Ward

MR. SAMMIE L. WARD Sammie Lee Ward affectionately known as "Bo" was born on November 17, 1949 in Minton City, Mississippi to Roosevelt and Lillie Mae Ward. As a young boy his parents moved to Arkansas where he attended secondary and post elementary school. He later attended Job Corps and became a certified meat cutter. He decided that cutting meat was not what he wanted to do for a living and decided to relocate. Bo moved to Kansas City in his late teens. Shortly after he moved to Kansas City, he met the love of his life Arnetta "Nettie" Ward. They were married on June 12, 1976. To this union three children were born, Delia Ward, Kayana Ward, and Jermaine Ward. As he began his adult life, he started working for Sears Roebuck and Co. He worked at Sears for 35 years, retiring in 2007. He was a hardworking man. He often worked a second job to make ends meet. He was a good husband, father and provider. In his younger days Bo enjoyed fishing, skating and riding his motorcycle. After he retired he enjoyed traveling to Fort Scott, KS to hang with his buddies Armando and Todd. He also enjoyed sitting with friends at Troost Lake, barbequing and talking smack to anyone that came in his presence. He was the life of the party and a jokester. He always had a joke or two for whoever entered the room. He departed this life on January 6, 2016. Bo is preceded in death by both parents and his brothers Marshall Ward and Sonnie Ward. He leaves to forever cherish his memory his loving wife Arnetta "Nettie" Ward; his 3 children Delia Wilson, Kayana Ward and Jermaine Ward; His siblings Cliffe M. Banks, Susie L. Ward, Robert Ward Sr., Albert Ward, Jessie Ray Ward (Deloria), Percy Ward, Janie M. Dunn, Myrtle Sipple, Belinda Hill, Kathy Hill, Richard Hill, Mary A. Britton, and Benny Hill (Kim); His grandchildren Vonzell Stamps, Marvin Wilson Jr, Marquee Wilson, Markeiana Wilson, Markeiaja Wilson, Markeiara Wilson, Shyriahana Ward, Aviyana Ward, Jah'Cieon Ward, Jah'Yanni Ward, and Jah' Phann Ward; a special Son in Law Marvin Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
