Sammy Grant Day, Jr. 61, passed away on March 8, 2022 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. He was born on November 6, 1960 in Morrilton, Arkansas to Sammy Grant Day, Sr. and Dorothy M Canady. The family moved to Kansas City, Missouri when Sammy was 2 years old. He completed his early childhood education at Switzer Elementary School and graduated from West High School in Kansas City, Missouri.
Sammy started an Internship working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a Lineman, when he was a Junior in High School. He continued his employment with the company after graduating and was employed for 31 years, until he retired on September 11, 2008. He was a member of Communications Workers of America Local 6360.
Sammy accepted Jesus as his personal Savior and Lord. He loved attending Sunday Church Services at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo. He would be so excited for Sunday and would ask whomever was around him, “Are you going to church on Sunday?” Sammy used his talent and skills as an auto mechanic. He enjoyed playing pool and his love for motorcycles led him to form friendships with the Cowboys Motorcycle Club members and other motorcycle club members from other areas around Kansas City. He enjoyed hanging out with them.
He married Pamela Young in 1981 and to this union two children were born. The marriage was later dissolved.
He was preceded into death by Maternal and Paternal Grandparents; Father, Sammy Grant Day Sr.; Two Sisters, Sheila Louise Day and Leola M. Day Wallace.
He is survived by; Mother, Dorothy M. Day (Kansas City, Mo); One Sister, Regina Bland (Jacksonville, Florida); One Brother-in-Law, Ronald Wallace (Topeka, Kansas); Two Daughters, Gaybriel Day (Dallas,Tx); Shawnda Wilson (Tommy), (Murrieta, CA); One Son, Bryant Williams-Day (Kansas City, MO); Two Granddaughters; Tamiya Wilson (Murrieta, CA); Tayja Ann Williams (Kansas City, MO); One Grandson, Tommy Wilson III (Kansas City, MO); and a host of aunts, nieces, uncles, nephews, cousins, other family and friends
