Sandra Renea Turner, 69, of Shawnee, Kansas, was born on September 14, 1955, in Chanute, Kansas, to Robert and Maxine (Brown) Boyd of Humboldt, Kansas. She passed away on September 10, 2025, just days before her 70th birthday, surrounded by her loving family in her final moments.
A proud graduate of Humboldt High School, Sandy was active in clubs, sports, and school activities, with cheerleading being her favorite. She spent most of her career at the Bank of Commerce, Head Start program, Elisa’s Mexican Restaurant, and Dollar General, always giving her best to support her family and serve others.
Her love for the Kansas City Chiefs was legendary—if she wasn’t wearing a Chiefs shirt, she was likely in a Neosho County Community College or Blue Comet shirt, heading to cheer on students at several sporting events. Sandy was a familiar and beloved presence at local games and practices, often joining students for lunch and encouraging them with her trademark warmth.
She was united in marriage to Harold Turner Jr. on May 25, 1973, in Chanute, Kansas, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, devotion, and shared values. Together, they raised a family that was the center of Sandy’s world.
Sandy is survived by her devoted daughters, Sonia Wheeler (Dejuan) and Tonia Turner-Hayes (Derek), both of Shawnee, Kansas; her loving stepdaughter, Karlas Moore (Lou) of Coffeyville, Kansas; her brothers, Dale Boyd of Chanute, Kansas, and Anthony Boyd of Hutchinson, Kansas; her sisters-in-law, Gracella Jackson (Lonnie) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Veronica Turner of Shawnee, Kansas; and her longtime companion, Paul Galizia of Shawnee, Kansas. She also leaves behind her blended family of four grandchildren: Gavin, Kaman, Tre'Vaughn, and Kyree; four great-grandchildren; two granddogs, Ace and Theotis; two goddaughters, Takhia and Centria; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents, Robert and Maxine Boyd; her beloved husband, Harold Turner Jr.; her wonderful son, Anthony Turner; her siblings, Robert Boyd II and Candace Boyd; her sister-in-law, Princess Pulley; and her cherished granddogs: Gemini, Mufasa, Roscoe, and Sasha. She also joins numerous aunts, uncles, and other dear relatives who went before her.
