Sara Louise Garrett was born on July 26, 1962, in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Melvina and Arthur Garrett, Sr. Sara accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Midway Baptist Church in Eudora, Arkansas. She began her education in the Kansas City, Missouri Public School System, where she attended Ashland Elementary, and then furthered her education in the Eudora Public School System after relocating to Eudora, Arkansas in 1971. She returned to Kansas City, Missouri in 1989, with her family, and became employed at Pleasant View Nursing Home.
Sara loved her family. She loved to cook, spoiling the kids, two-stepping, and she was the biggest R. Kelly fan. She was also an outstanding softball player.
Sara passed away peacefully at the University of Kansas Health System, after a long fight with her illness.
She is preceded in death by both parents, her oldest daughter, Serena Garrett, and sister Wanda Powell.
Leaving to cherish her memories, long time partner, Mr. Alvin Brown, one daughter, Tia Garrett (Ameer), two sons, Byron Garrett, and Taylor Garrett, two sisters, Victoria Palmer-Williams (David), Flora Townsend (Willie), five brothers, Gary Norman (Trina), Authur Norman, Daniel Garrett, Douglas Garrett (Jackie), David Garrett, four grandchildren, Monterrio, Meah, Ariel, and Ameer, Jr., one great-granddaughter, Nyla, and a host of other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
