Sharon Wynona (Bolden) Gordon was born on October 27, 1941 in Jefferson City, MO to the union of Dan Bolden and Christine (McCully) Bolden. Sharon went home to glory on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, Christopher Weatherspoon, two great grandchildren, Dasha Slaughter and Darren McDonald, and one nephew, Bryan Bolden.
Sharon accepted Christ as a young woman and attended Welcome Baptist Church and Morningview Missionary Baptist Church. She was a choir director, lead singer and Sunday School teacher at both churches. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Jefferson City, MO at the age of 16. She then attended Lincoln University for a short time. After moving to Kansas City, MO she attended Penn Valley Community College where she received her nursing training.
She began working at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, MO in the 1970’s. She went on to become a registered nurse of nephrology working with dialysis patients. With her solid expertise and dedication to the patients and staff of the dialysis unit she became the lead nurse and staff trainer. Following her lead, many of her family members went on to join the medical field as registered nurses, LPN’s and CNA’s.
She leaves to cherish her memory one brother, Dan T. Bolden, Jr. (Jean), Grandview, MO; one sister, Stephany Smith, Lenexa, KS; four sons: Johnny Slaughter, Jr. (Dorothy), Arlington, TX, Darrell Bolden, Kansas City, MO, David Bolden, Kansas City, MO, and James Gordon (Peggy), Honolulu, HI; four daughters: Sallie Slaughter, Grandview, MO, Edna Slaughter, Kansas City, MO, Teresa Bolden, Kansas City, MO, and Kristina Mitchem (Renwick), Lee’s Summit, MO; twenty four grandchildren: Alesha, Richard, Christopher, DeCarlos, E’Toyare, Edrick Jr., Tanya, Johnny III, Jeffrey, Lonya, DeNeka, Doral, Ta’ Lor, Davion, Mariah, Razhja, Jayla, Sema’j, Starr, Thomas, Selicia, Donald III, Iesha, Lancer Jr.; three special grandchildren: Marlon, Michael, and DeVonuha; fifty three great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
