Sharri Janell Board, passed away on October 26, 2022, at Delmar Gardens Lenexa, Kansas. She was born on September 4, 1964, in Jacksonville, NC to Marshall Lee Davis and Betty JoAnn Davis. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from Hickman High School.  After high school, she attended the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Language. She joined the Army and served for 3 years. During her time in service she was the recipient of Army Service and Overseas Ribbons. She achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant. She served as a Military Police Officer for 3 years. She married Phillip Board on June 17, 1989, in Kansas City, Missouri. They were happily married for 5 years, and two children were born to that union, Zacharia Board and Ayana Board

Sharri dedicated her life to Christ at the age of 7. She loved singing in the choir. She was given the opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall with the West Point Academy Gospel Choir at the request of Alex Haley. She loved all genres of music, but Gospel was one of her favorites.  She would spend hours laughing, making up songs, and singing with her siblings.  Sharri was an avid reader, and she loved a good novel.  One of her favorite past times was watching movies and you better not call her when she was watching her favorite TV Shows.  She had many talents. She was artistic, multilingual, and fluent in Portuguese and Spanish. She was also good at creative writing.  Sharri was the one to call if you were in a fight and needed backup. One of her nicknames was “The Pounder” based on her famous quote “Don’t make me have to pound you!”  Sharri never lost a fight. She was a fighter until the end.  She left on her own terms, stating “Dad, I’m going home”.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty J. Davis; sister, Sharon Renee’ Davis; and son, Zachariah Leon Board.

She is survived by her father, Marshal L. Davis (Lisa); daughter, Ayana D. Board; 3 grandchildren, Elias Stevenson, Caiden Buyers, and Bridget Board; sisters,  Sherry Enola Mena (Romulo), Sonya Y Barbee (Kevin), Joselyn M. Willis (Zelos), Shelley C-Bradford, Toya J. Davis, and Alexandria T. Caldwell; brother, Marshall A. Davis (Monique); grandmothers, Luretta Davis, and Gloria Brown; uncle, Nathaniel Davis (Marinda); aunts, Ann Jones, Joan McIntosh (Russel), and Inetta Childress; a lifetime friend, Pamela Redmond; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
