Sherise L. Knight

Sherise Lavonne Knight (Wright), also known as “Sherry” or “Big Mama”, was born March 16, 1970, in Kansas City, Missouri to Marvena Parker (Norfleet) and Roy Wright Sr. She was educated at Southeast High School in the Kansas City, Missouri School District.

She received Christ at an early age and was a long-time member of the Traveler’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend James Henry Johnson and later Pastor Lee Burns.

Sherise became licensed in the State of Missouri and Kansas as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at several hospitals and facilities throughout the Kansas City region. She maintained a distinguished career as a CNA for 30 years. Sherise was a compassionate and resilient person. She dedicated herself to helping people who could not help themselves, always taking others into her home and being there for a late-night call.

Sherise was a faithful and honorable wife to Shon Knight as well as a devoted mother to her sons, David Wright, Donte Hams, Darrius Knight, and Dshon Knight.

Over the course of her life, Sherise filled many roles for many people, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and many more. Her greatest love was that of her children and grandchildren. Family encompassed all aspects of life, whether it was a cookout in a park or a road trip to Florida, Sherise wanted to be there with family.

Sherise was preceded into death by her father Roy Wright Sr., her sister Karla Guess, and her brother Larry Dixon.

Sherise is survived by her husband Shon Knight, her sons: David (Myeisha Wright), Donte, Darrius (Wyquita Bland), and Dshon; her one and only granddaughter Daiva R Wright; grandsons: David Wright Jr., Donte L Hams Jr., Taeden SirKing Hams, Darrius Knight Jr., Drayden Knight, and Jadarrian Parks; her mother Marvena Parker; her sister Marla Thornton (Pinky Thorton); her brothers: Roy Wright (Tamara Davis) and Ryan Parker, and family and friends.
