Ms. Shirley Ann Fields, 72, transitioned on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Kansas City Hospice House 12000 Wornall Road in Kansas City, Mo. She was born on December 29, 1946 in Morrilton, Arkansas to the late Shelly Saulsberry and Jessie Saulsberry, McCluney. She grew up in Solgohachia, Arkansas. During her high school years, she enjoyed sewing, cooking and playing softball. She also participated in the Upward Bound Student Program.

She graduated from Menifee High School, in Menifee Arkansas. After high school she married James R. Fields who served in the US Navy. She traveled with him to Long Beach, California where she worked as a Nurse’s Assistant. She was later employed at Western Electric in Lees Summit, Mo. for many years. Because of her love for people and missing the daily interaction with others, after a few years of retirement she worked at St Luke’s Hospital and Costco. She was a regular visitor at many Senior Citizen Homes in Kansas City.

She was preceded in death by both parents, four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Marcia D. Rhodes (Winthrop), Beverly J. Fields-Smith, two sons Anthony L. Fields (Richelle), and Jermaine Fields (Sheneka), fourteen grandchildren, Denisa, James (Nancy), Devon, Lakissha, Wyshaud, Malik, Ayanna, Melahki, Mehki, Evan, Reed, Maine, Mariah and Messiah, eight great-grandchildren, Danelly, Kalen, Addison, Eli, Austin, Ja’Vion, Malaya, Journee, and a host of other relatives and friends.
