Shirley A. Johnson

Shirley Anne Johnson transitioned from this life on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Saint Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

She was born on May 9, 1956 to Johnny Johnson Jr and Tessie M. Johnson.  She shared her special birthday with her eldest son, Clifford L. Johnson and her maternal Grandmother, Clifford M. Bell.

Shirley grew up in Kansas City, MO.  During her youth, she was a member of Wright Temple C.O.G.I.C, serving as the Sunday School Secretary during her teenage years.  At the time of her passing, she was a member of Redemption Ministries C.O.G.I.C., under the leadership of Elder Thuston Packnett Sr.

She was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District and graduated from Paseo High School in 1974.  After graduating, she immediately went to work as a Nurse’s Aide, progressing to a Certified Nursing Assistant before retiring.  After quickly becoming bored with retirement, she pursued her passion, a full-time position that allowed her to work with infants and young children.  She was in the process of working out the details of maintaining her full-time job and gaining temporary custody of her 8 year old grandson.

Shirley was preceded in death by her Father, Johnny Johnson Jr; two eldest sons, Clifford L. Johnson & Cleophus L. Withers Jr.; older brother, Johnny L. Gill Sr. & nephew, Johnny L. Gill Jr.

She leaves to mourn her transition, one son, Anthony L. Withers Sr.; her Mother, Tessie M. Johnson; two brothers, Paul L. Harvell & Curtis F. Johnson; two sisters, Danita A. Johnson & Mary E. Johnson; 4 nieces; 1 nephew; 2 great-nieces; 4 granddaughters; 1 grandson; 7 great-grandchildren; & a host of relatives and friends.

A sweet voice that we love is still.  An earthly body is vacant in our lives that can never be filled.
