Celebrating The Life Of
Spencer Rosevelet Gleese Jr.
Spencer Rosevelet Gleese Jr., age 76, affectionately known as "Pops", was born on August 5, 1949, in Anguilla, Mississippi, to Spencer Rosevelet Gleese Sr. and Savana (Taylor) Gleese. He departed this life on May 28, 2026.
Spencer grew up in Mississippi, before moving to Kansas City. He worked as a cook at Fuzzy’s Sports Bar & Grill for many years before retiring. He married Catherine Anne Gleese on March 4, 1977, in Kansas City MO.
"Pops" was a man who loved his family, enjoyed spending time with those closest to him, and never met a stranger for long.
Whether sharing stories, laughing with family, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, or simply enjoying a meal with loved ones, he found joy in life's simple moments.
Those who knew "Pops" will remember his sense of humor, his strong opinions, and the way he could make an ordinary gathering feel memorable. He was proud of his family, and cherished the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, relatives and friends.
"Pops" was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his sister, Annie Louis Smith; and his granddaughter, ShaTavia Williams.
Left to cherish Pops' memory: his children: Angela E. Bouman, Kenneth L. Bouman, Spencer R. Gleese III (Janiece), Gary C. Gleese (Jamie), Penney M. Gant (Tracy) and Timothy S. Gleese (Carmen); 17 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; his sisters: Frankie Jean Bullock, Katherine Gleese, Florence Ransburg, Prudence Wilson and Shirley Ann White; a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
While his passing leaves a space that can never truly be filled, his memory lives on through the stories he shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave to those around him.
"Pops" may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
