Stephanie Denise Buckner, affectionately known as “Cookie” was born to Patricia Jean Buckner and Don Williams on December 18, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the oldest of four children: Jonna, Rodney, and Edward.
Stephanie Denise Buckner “Cookie”, passed away on May 16, 2024 at Wilshire of Lakewood in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Her parents Patricia Jean Bell and Don Williams and her step-father Ruppert E. Bell “Corky”, her son Carlos Deon Buckner “Nutt”, her brother Rodney E. Bell “Peanut Butter”, and her sister Jonna E. Buckner, all preceded her in death.
Cookie attended school in the Kansas City Missouri school district at Paseo High School. She then met the love of her life, Carlos Deon McGee. They relocated to Tulsa, OK where she worked at Unarco Rubber Products for many years as a Press Machine Operator. Cookie eventually moved back to Kansas City, Missouri in 1996 where she began working several years at Children’s Mercy Hospital; Stephanie later worked at Senior Estates. She continued to work until her health declined which required her to retire.
Cookie loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. She never met a stranger, was always pleasant, and loved to hug you. She had a beautiful and affectionate smile along with possessing witty sarcasm. As a teenager, Cookie loved to skate at her favorite skating rink, Rhythm lane. After school Cookie and her best friend Kim Dale would go to Cherry’s record shop, where they would play music and dance with their friends for hours.
Later in life when Cookies health began to decline she said not to cry or be sad about her illness but to allow her to enjoy her time that she had left. Cookie never complained about being ill; she was strong and was a “FIGHTER” and she fought until the end. At which time she said “I’m tired”. So, don’t be sad. But embrace the wonderful memories that were made with Cookie that will live on through us all, who loves her so very dearly.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her daughter, LeShell Buckner of Tulsa, OK, her son Bryant E. Buckner (Daffney) of Phoenix, AZ, her brother Edward L.
