Steven “Stevie” Duane Cummings-Kennedy was born on October 14, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri to Lisa Kennedy and Samuel Kennedy, Jr. He was preceded in death by his father; Samuel Kennedy, Jr., his brothers; Rodney Kennedy, Herbert Brown, Samuel Glenn Kennedy, and a very special nephew; Rodney Kennedy, Jr. Steven worked various jobs throughout his life but was an entrepreneur at heart.
Steve was educated in the Kansas City Missouri Public School District.
Steven was a proud father of four young men, Stevie Kennedy-McCowan, Damone Kennedy-Cox , Rhome Kennedy, and Savon Kennedy-Childs. Steve from a very young man called all the shots when it came to his life. He was a prime example of the song “My Way”. He was always reminding you that life was short and that he was going to live it to the fullest at all times.
Steve was spirited and charming; he also had a way of putting on a front that he was the Big Bad Wolf. He had a kind and loving soul. He always told you the truth, whether you were right or wrong. He loved all music, bowling, and fishing. Don’t even mention fishing because before you knew it, he would have the poles, tackle box and cooler in the car saying, “Let’s Roll”. His sharp and witty personality was his most prominent trait. He definitely had the gift of gab; we all use to say, “man that dude could sell ice to an Eskimo” and he probably did at some point of his life! Steve departed this life on March 1, 2019 at 11:11 pm at Heritage Nursing Center in Upland, California.
Steven Duane Cummings-Kennedy is survived and is cherished by his beloved mother; Lisa Kennedy, his four sons; Stevie Kennedy-McCowan, Damone Kennedy-Cox, Rhmone Kennedy, Savon Kennedy-Childs, seven grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cous-ins, other relatives and friends, and two cherished cousins; Rhonda Kaye “KK” Cheadle Hill “so long cuz”… and Burnetta “Netta” Finley-Pritchett from California, who was with him through the end. He shall be missed by all who knew and loved him.
