Steven William Thornton was born on May 30th 1959, in Marianna, Arkansas to the late Curley Osie and Willie Belle Thornton. He was baptized at an early age. He was preceded in death by his dad and brother Carl Thornton. Steven departed this life on July 21st, 2016 at home, he was an organ donor. Steven was married to his loving and devoted wife Gay Rogers Thornton for 16 years whom he leaves to cherish his memory. He also leaves 2 sons, Brian Thornton (Alexandria) and Carlos Moore, 1stepson Lavor K Rogers, 1step daughter Kali R. Johns and 5 grandchildren. Steven received his education in the KCMO school district. Following that he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served for 13.5 years. He earned titles of Drill instructor and Sergeant and was awarded several medals of Honor for his tours in Okinawa, Japan and Desert Storm (2). He was employed by NPB Event Staff at the time of his death. He leaves to cherish his memory 5 sisters Carolin McKenzie, Ira Jean Thornton, Brenda Thornton, Francine Thornton and Connie Simon (Damon). 2 brothers Ronald Thornton and Kenneth Thornton Sr. (Esther) and host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends all reside in Kansas City, Mo.
