Sylvester Thompson, Sr.

Sylvester Thompson affectionally known as Pookie was the fourth child born to the union of Thomas L. Thompson Sr. and Leona R. Thompson. Sylvester was preceded in Heaven by his parents Thomas L Thompson Sr. and Leona R. Thompson, his son Malcolm Courtney, his grandson Michael J. Huggins Jr, his brothers Richard L. Davis Sr., Russell F. Thompson Sr., Ronald Lee Thompson, his nephews Larry Thibeaux-Norman, Larry E. Thompson Jr., Ronald E. Taylor, Lonnie M. Thompson Sr. and Trayvon Pickett Thompson, his nieces Regina L. Taylor and LaQuella Norman-Woods.

Sylvester was educated in the Kansas City, Mo. School District at George Washington Carver Elementary School and Central High School. Sylvester was a professional Fur and Leather cutter for over 30 years. Sylvester loved to spend time with his family and he loved to shoot the breeze, play dominoes and cards and he loved to 2 Step. Sylvester will always be remembered for his sense of style because he loved to dress well.

Sylvester’s memory will be cherished by his wife Margie Thompson; his children, Debra K. Jones, Carl Hollinger, Helen Newman (Larry), Nicole Courtney, Sylvester Donnell Newman-Thompson and Neomi Thompson (Luther); his brothers Thomas L. Thompson Jr., Larry E. Thompson Sr., Michael Thompson and Ronald Thompson; his sisters Joanna M. Morrow and Constance M. Norman; his cousin who was like a sister, Charlene West, and his best friend Rommie Richardson; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
