Taylor D. Garrett, 32, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, alongside his beloved older brother Byron. He was born on October 20, 1992, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Alfred Green and Sara Garrett.
He was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri, Public School District and graduated from Ozanam High School in 2011.
Though Taylor was never formally employed, he had many talents. He was good with his hands, worked on cars, and was an all-around jack-of-all-trades. He was also very family-oriented; family meant everything to him. Taylor LOVED the kids, and the kids LOVED Taylor. At every family function you could find the kids around him. He was at ALL the games and track meets. If he said he was going to be there, he was there. He was all the kids' uncle, whether you were his niece, nephew, cousin, family friend, or whomever.
When others lost their fathers, Taylor stepped up to try to fill the void even though he knew he could not be the replacement; he knew he could at least try and fill the gap in their absence to make it a bit easier.
His laugh was contagious, and his smile was infectious. His hugs were unmatched; he was enormous and towered over most of us, so you knew it was coming from a place of protection, and that is what and who will be missed. THE PROTECTOR OF US ALL!
He was preceded in death by both maternal grandparents, Arthur and Melvina Garrett; paternal grandfather, Alfred Green Sr.; mother, Sara Garrett; sister, Serena Garrett; brother, Byron Garrett; aunt, Wanda Powell; as well as several beloved cousins.
He leaves to cherish fond memories his unborn child; father Alfred Green Jr.; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Green; two sisters, Tia Garrett (Ameer Sr.) and LaShawndra Green; three aunts: Victoria Palmer Williams (David), Flora Townsend (Willie), and Tonya Green; six uncles: Gary Norman (Trina), Arthur Norman, Daniel Garrett, Douglas Garrett (Jacqueline), David Garrett and Christopher Green (Felicia); four nieces: Ariel Garrett, Meah Garrett, Asia Robinson and India Robinson; three nephews: Monterrio Garrett, Ameer Hays Jr., and Kevon Jones; one great niece Nylah Garrett; and several close cousins that were beloved as brothers: Destin Garrett, Tomorren Garrett, David Garrett Jr., and Darris Norman.
