Telly Leroy Jones

Telly Leroy Jones, a Gentle Giant of a man, was born on August 26, 1976 to Vickie Lynn Waters Jones and Ronald Carl Jones at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. On February 26, 2018, at his home in Grandview, MO where he lived with his mother, he stood up, stepped out and ascended to his Heavenly home. Telly, again, was triumphant! He overcame an umbilical cord wrapped around his neck while struggling to be born and heart surgery at two weeks old to become a wonderful, dear, sweet, kind, generous man.

Telly was a devoted and committed person. Devoted to his family, especially his mother, father, brothers Leland and David, his sister Adrian and Big David. He was generous with his time, his love, his smile and his snacks. His relatives and friends, including the clerks in the stores where he walked or rode the bus to do his shopping and handle his financial business, all loved Telly and happily greeted him. Even the many friends, family and even strangers whose offers of rides were usually turned down when they saw Telly walking with his many bags, doo rag in a color to match his clothes as he was “dressed appropriately for the weather,” admired his resiliency and persistence. It had to be an extreme case for Telly to accept their offers. He preferred completing his journey on his own.
