Sister Teresa Ann Houston was born on May 23rd, 1948 to Thomas McGruder and Jane Robinson-McGruder in Kansas City, Missouri. Willa Patton was also known as mother by Teresa. All parents preceded here in death. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sister Bonnie E. Davis and brothers Lester O. Yancey Jr. and Thomas McGruder Jr.
Teresa was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District and graduated from Central Senior High School in 1966. After graduating Teresa was united in holy matrimony to Otis Timothy Estell at the age of eighteen. She was later united in Holy matrimony to Edward Houston until the marriage was dissolved.
She accepted Christ at the age of nineteen at Greater Corinthian Church of Christ under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Raymond Davis Jr. She became the first church clerk, remaining in that position for ten years. She was a faithful choir member and was a member of These Are They Community Choir and The Sacred Singers. She had a love for young people which lead her to start the youth group Teens Loving Christ (TLC). She was also a member of Love Fellowship Church under the leadership of Reverend Willie Kelly and Gus Franklin. She was one of the founding members of Abundant Life Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Gregory Walker. At the time of her passing, she was a current member of the Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent Benjamin Stephens, III.
Teresa was a dedicated employee of Safeway, Food Barn, and Hyper-mart as a Meat Cutter. She was a proud member of the local Meat Cutters Union. She later became a student of Brown Mackie College and received her degree as a Paralegal where she began working for Rubins, Case, Rubins, Cambiano, and Byrant. She retired her working career at Credit Motors in 2012.
Teresa was an encourager at heart and loved to encourage everyone she could. In as much so, she became one of facebook’s inspirational Mother’s known as “The Porch Lady”, giving daily wisdom to all who would read.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Timothy R. Estell of Kansas City, MO. Two daughters Tiffany W. Estell of Fort Worth, TX and Stephanie J. Hall (Anthony) of Lee’s Summit MO. Six grandchildren, Derrick, Timothy II, Blake, Reagen, Colin, and Cheyene and three step grandchildren Antoine, Ashley and Winifred. Step Father, Levi Patton; Sister, Katheryn Carter, and Sister In Law, Doris Yancey. Special niece/cousin, Veroncia Logan-Yancey (Ronni), Michael Carter (Lynettte), and Kanetra Graham (David). Her very best friend of 50 years, Brenda Rollins along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special children, and many friends.
