Theodore (Ted) A. Stewart, age 62, passed away, July 27, 2016 at his home. Theodore was born September 6, 1953 in Greensboro Alabama, to the union of Theodore (Teddy) Stewart and Alberta Rollins. Ted was happily married for 38 years to Elaine (Lainey) Thompson. He was the proud father of three wonderful children, LaShonne (Shonny) E. Stewart of Huntington NY, Theodore A. (TJ) Stewart II, and LaSheia (Teia) M. Stewart, both of Kansas City Mo. He was the proud grandfather of 4 Grandchildren, Lanaudia Stewart, Theodore (Theezy) A. Stewart III Amourae' E. Stewart and Audrey L. Stewart, all of Kansas City, Mo. Ted attended Sanford B. Ladd Elementary as a young man. As a member of the Boy Scouts of American, Ted obtained the highest rank possible, of Eagle Scout. Ted was a proud member of the Central Sr. High School, graduating class of 1971. Upon graduation, Ted attended Kansas University, Howard University (Washington D.C), and Farmingdale State University (NY), obtaining a degree in Chemistry and license in Mortuary Science. During this process, he completed an embalming apprenticeship at a Harlem NY Funeral Home. In 1977, Ted entered in the US Army as an Army Medic with duty stations at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington DC, ending his military career at Ft. Sheridan Ill, where he worked as an EMT. Upon exiting the Military in 1980, he then moved back to Kansas City, Mo where he completed a second apprenticeship at Lawrence A. Jones Funeral Home, as an embalmer. In March of 1981, Ted began a 32 year employment with The Kansas City Power and Light Company (KCPL). During Teds employment at KCPL, he began as a plant helper/relief man at Hawthorn Station. In January 1992, Ted became a Process Attendant at Iatan Station, where he worked until he became the Business Manager for IBEW Local 412, from December 2004 until December 2007. Ted then retired as a process attendant at Hawthorne Station, in November of 2013, ending his employment with KCPL. When Ted was not spending time with his favorite Uncle, "Eddie B. Smith," at "Old Folks," Ted enjoyed spending time with his family,. Ted was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, and was a part of a group (KC Travel) that annually traveled to "away" games, at just about every NFL city in the country. Ted was preceded in death by his maternal grandmothers, Ella Holbert and Minnie Holley, and paternal grandfather, George Holbert, father Teddy Stewart, his mother Alberta Walker, Step-father, Beverly Duane Walker and brothers Teddy Stewart II, and Steven Stewart. Ted is survived by his wife and children, as well as 4 sisters, Mahasin "Patricia" Abdullah (David), Malkia "Valerie" Stewart, Kahlilah "Erin" Ali (Naim), and two brothers, Ray Stewart (Dawn), Rod "Tony" Walker (Dorothy), and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
